CAPTAIN AMERICA WILL POSSIBLY DIE IN AVENGERS : INFINITY WAR

Avengers infinity War is probably going to kill a few superheroes — but who?   

Avengers:  Infinity War starts the two-part finale of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it. The end will come for the original superheroes we’ve grown to love over the years, including Iron Man and Thor, but the question is how their stories will end. Will they die in a battle with Thanos, either in Infinity War or Avengers 4? Will they simply retire to Avengers Tower and watch as other superheroes, like Spider-Man, Black Panther and Captain Marvel, save the planet from catastrophic threats?

We don’t know, but with new interviews and a bit of social media stalking, we can make a few educated guesses about who might kick the bucket in Infinity War, kickstarting the exodus of first-generation Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes.

Black Panther is almost guaranteed to earn a sequel, alongside Captain Marvel. A third Guardians of the Galaxy movie has been announced and, while a sequel for Doctor Strange hasn’t been announced yet, with his appearances in recent Marvel movies, it’s almost certain Marvel will order the film.

Each of these characters has a future at Marvel beyond Infinity War and Avengers 4, meaning you can rest easy knowing that after getting attached to T’Challa in Black Panther, you won’t have to watch him die in either of the upcoming Avengers movies.

Vision is toast

Out of all the characters set to appear in Infinity War — and there are plenty — we can predict with confidence that Vision isn’t going to make it out alive.

Despite a photo actor Paul Bettany tweeted earlier this year reportedly from the set of Avengers 4, in which Vision can be seen sporting glasses and, most importantly, one of the Infinity Stones (the Mind Stone) atop his forehead, the trailer tells a different story. This leads us to believe the scene below, if we see it in Avengers 4, will appear as a flashback or memory.

Avengers: Infinity War is about Thanos’ trip to Earth to gather up Infinity Stones. We know he heads to Wakanda, home of Black Panther, where an Infinity Stone may lie, and we also know that the Children of Thanos, a group of lethal beings who accompany Thanos on his missions, manage to attack Vision, piercing his Mind Stone. It’s unclear from the trailer if this is Thanos, but what we can take away from the scene is Vision being targeted by nefarious forces and he suffers an enormous level of pain.

Vision isn’t going to get his own stand-alone movie. His future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will end by Avengers 4, but his developing relationship with Scarlet Witch adds an aspect of emotional drama that Marvel will want to hone in on. It’s more likely that Scarlet Witch will have to deal with the loss of Vision, carrying that grief and anger into Avengers 4.

Is this the last we’ll see of Loki?

When Thor: Ragnarok ended, we learned that Loki had retained control of the Tesseract, making him an easy target.

With three Thor movies under his belt, The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, Hiddleston has established an overwhelming influence on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but his presence on screen has been coming to end for some time. There were reports earlier this year that Loki appeared in a flashback sequence for Avengers 4, but little detail on whether his character will be actively involved in the movie.

The timing on Loki’s death, while imminent, is still up in the air. He’s such a beloved character that it makes sense to have Loki appear in Avengers 4, but his death in Infinity War would raise the stakes for all involved and tie into his character development we saw in Thor: Ragnarok.

We think it’s likely he’ll die in Infinity War, but we’re not sure enough to place bets on it.

A Guardians of the Galaxy character has got to go

The Guardians of the Galaxy team is a large one, with a plethora of different characters. If we’re being realistic, it doesn’t make sense for Marvel to bring all of the Guardians, including characters like Nebula and Mantis, in for Infinity War and have them survive long enough to reappear in Avengers 4.

It’s not going to be Groot; he technically already died once and killing him again seems either redundant or unnecessarily cruel. We can assume that none of the five original Guardians will die. After all, a third Guardians of the Galaxy movie is on its way. Nebula, however, makes perfect sense.

Perhaps she’ll die while protecting her sister, Gamora, bringing their emotional arc to an end. It also gives Gamora something to fight for in Avengers 4, much like Scarlet Witch if Vision died. Nebula dying in Infinity War would give the character a memorable exit from the franchise and help pave a better story for Avengers 4.

Chances of Nebula dying? Pretty likely.

But remember, these are comic book deaths

Death isn’t the end in the world of comic book characters, and Marvel could always bring a killed-off character back post-Infinity War. How? Well, there are those super-powered MacGuffins, the Infinity Stones. Plus, Star-Lord is half Celestial and Doctor Strange has the ability to reverse and reset time, and we can rely on that playing a factor in Infinity War. We may have already seen the effects of Strange’s manipulation of time in the trailer.

It’s difficult to predict what will happen and to whom, meaning that we could be entirely right when Infinity War is released or some amount of wrong. Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige told Vanity Fair that Avengers 4 will “bring things you’ve never seen in superhero films: a finale,” but it’s very unlikely that they’ll save every single death for the final installment. We’ll start seeing heroes die in Avengers: Infinity War; we’ll just have to wait to see who those characters are.
